Avec ces mots, George Harrison a convaincu son ami Klaus Voormann d'écrire toute son histoire avec les Beatles à Hambourg et Londres et de sa carrière en tant que musicien de studio et graphiste. Le Quiet Beatle a eu raison car Klaus Voormann est l'une des rares personnes à avoir côtoyé les Beatles depuis le début. Leur amitié est née dès la première fois qu'il les a vu jouer à Hambourg. Plus tard, il a conçu la pochette de leur album "Revolver" et, après la séparation du groupe, a collaboré à certains de leurs enregistrements en solo en tant que bassiste. Ainsi en est-il du single "Instant Karma" et des albums "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band", "Imagine", "Some Time in New York City", "Walls and Bridges" et "Rock 'n' Roll" pour John ; de "All Things Must Pass", "Living in the Material World", "Dark Horse" et "Extra Texture (Read All About It)" pour George ; des albums "Ringo", "Goodnight Vienna" et "Ringo's Rotogravure" en ce qui concerne Ringo. À noter que Voormann a également participé au Toronto Rock and Roll Revival le 13/09/1969 avec le Plastic Ono Band ainsi qu'au Concert for Bangladesh avec George au Madison Square Garden de New York le 01/08/1971.

 

Plus tard, durant les années 1990, il a été sollicité, avec son confrère Alfons Kiefer, pour la conception des pochettes des trois opus du projet The Beatles Anthology. Sans oublier sa participation, avec Aleen Toroyan, à l'élaboration de dessins pour la pochette de l'album "Run Devil Run" de Paul, paru en 1999. Enfin, Voormann est monté sur la scène du Royal Albert Hall de Londres le 29/11/2002 pour jouer de la basse sur la chanson "All Things Must Pass", à l'occasion du Concert for George.

Dans ce livre, qui a été écrit dans un style personnel, Klaus Voormann raconte au lecteur son histoire vécue avec ​​les Beatles, mais aussi les nombreux autres musiciens avec lesquels il a travaillé. Ce, avec beaucoup de respect et d'admiration pour tous. On peut citer le groupe Manfred Mann, mais aussi Lou Reed, Carly Simon, James Taylor et Harry Nilsson entre autres. Il n'oublie pas, bien entendu, d'aborder ses activités de graphiste. L'ouvrage est en allemand, ce qui peut rebuter mais, pour ceux qui lisent la langue de Goethe, l'écriture est simple, ce qui facilite la compréhension et l'immersion.
